The ideal way to measure your finger for the correct ring size is by using a ring sizing tool to measure either your finger or an existing ring. Unfortunately, very few of us have such a tool laying around our house! Worry not, we can improvise and get the answers in other ways.

There are two general ways to figure out your correct ring size from the comfort of your home:

Use String or Yarn – Assuming you do not have a a ring that fits well already, the next best option is to use a piece of string or yarn. Just cut a piece of string or yarn and measure the diameter of the finger you want to size (distance around your finger). Then, noting the distance around your finger, measure the string using a standard ruler with millimeters (mm) and reference the chart below for your ring size.

You can then use the chart below to determine your ring size based on that distance.

Measure a ring you already have – If there is a ring that you currently have and it fits well, jut measure the inside from side to side. This is called the circumference of the ring. Using a standard ruler with millimeters (mm), measure the inside of the ring from one side to the other (important to only measure the empty distance between the inner walls of the ring).
